Tina Orwall has a long history in social work and activism.

Strong Leadership

A career social worker, affordable housing advocate, and leader in the Democratic Party, Tina has fought for improved services and responsive government for people throughout the Puget Sound.

Tina created a nationally recognized funding partnership with local government and foundations that has created over 600 units of housing for individuals who are homeless, including units dedicated to homeless veterans.

Compassion

Tina has helped design housing first models to help homeless individuals with mental illness and addictions receive the housing and services they need. Not only have these projects been shown to greatly decrease a person’s use of ERs and other intensive services—but more importantly they help individuals to rebuild their lives.

Hard working

Tina has served as PTSA president of Marvista Elementary School and on the Highline Citizens for Schools that worked to pass the 2006 school levy.

Tina served as the chair of the 33rd legislative district Democrats (just stepped down) and has been an active member on the board since 2003.

She has been the co-chair of the King County Legislative Action Committee that has connected members from all of the legislative districts in our area to advocate for progressive legislation including public financing of campaigns, improved access to health care, increase pay for teachers, protection of Maury Island, Washington climate action bill and the homeowner’s bill of rights.
